Justin Edwards

Justin Edwards lives in a small town in West Wales with his wife and two children. Justin joined the Armed forces in 1993 where he served with the Royal Regiment of Wales for 9 exciting and varied years with Royal Regiment of Wales, which included a number of postings including; Northern Ireland on Operation BANNER, London on public duties and Germany in an armoured infantry role before being posted to the Infantry Training Centre Catterick as a Physical Training Instructor training adult recruits. During Justin’s Military career, he was fortunate to have gained a broad range of experience in roles such as foot soldiering, peacekeeping, covert surveillance, reconnaissance and armoured infantry. Justin is also a keen sportsman and was fortunate enough to not only represent Royal Regiment of Wales but represented the Army and Combined Services teams at under 21 level.

In 2003, Justin became a serving Police Officer within Dyfed Powys Police where he worked within a number of specialist departments such as Roads Policing and Armed Response, policing the whole of South Wales.
Justin then made a career change into the Private Security industry and worked for a number of years as a Close Protection Officer and Operations Manager on a number of private and government contracts in hostile environments.

In 2015, Justin joined MPCT as an instructor at Bridgend College. In 2016, Justin was promoted and given the opportunity of becoming the Centre Manager of Swansea MPCT. This position allowed him the opportunity to develop his leadership skills and a display a passion of ensuring each and every learner had a clear pathway from being part of the college. Justin tirelessly searched for outside partnerships with the same vison and ethos as MPCT that could provide direction and support. In 2018, Justin was once again promoted to Regional Operations Manager of Wales - this position enables him to search out new partnerships and agencies that may or may not be aware of the college and the Learners that we teach.

Justin is a keen cyclist and is currently training to take part in this year’s Ironman Wales which consists of a 2.4 mile swim (3.9km), 112 mile cycle (180km) and a 26.2 mile (42.2km) run.

Phil Jacobs

Joined 2012

Phil started with MPCT in March 2012 having been previously employed as a RAF Regiment gunner.

A native of North Wales, he was born in Hawarden in 1970 and grew up in Connahs Quay.
Phil joined the RAF as an RAF Regiment gunner and completed a highly-successful 22 year career which ended in January of 2012.
During his military service he worked as far afield as Catterick; Germany; East Anglia and South Wales amongst others.

He has experience of RAF Regiment Field squadrons, Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance Tracked (CVRT), skills instruction, leadership and management training/delivery and personal development training delivery.

Honours received during his service include the Iraq Medal, RAF LS & GCM and HM The Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal. As a Combined Services (CS) Hockey Player I represented the CS at Hockey for approximately 3 years from 1996 – 1999. Phil also represented the Royal Air Force (RAF) at Hockey for approximately 12 years from 1995 – 2007.
During which he represented the RAF in many national county championships, Inter-Service competitions at both indoor and outdoor hockey. In these pursuits he has also travelled to Holland, Germany, Cyprus, South Africa and India to represent the RAF at hockey.

Dafydd Roberts

Joined 2017

Dafydd joined MPCT April 2017. Prior to this he served with the 1st Battalion Royal Welsh. During his time in the forces he deployed on various training exercises and operations around the world including Cyprus, Kenya, Canada, Poland, Oman, Germany and Afghanistan.

In his spare time Dafydd enjoys 5-a-side football and spending quality time with his family. Dafydd has also transferred to the 3rd Battalion Royal Welsh (Reserve).

Diane Jones

Joined 2008

Diane joined APCymru in January 2008 as the Administrator for both North Wales colleges.

She has a vast experience of administration within the education sector and has recently qualified as an Essential Skills Tutor and is currently on the second year of a Cert Ed course.

The experiences and the knowledge she has gained over the years will now be put to good use. Her full time role as Essential Skills Tutor will help the students gain a higher level of Literacy and Numeracy qualifications which will assist them in achieving the best possible opportunities in life.
